An extensive collection of biological samples and information from more than 14,500 pregnant woman and their children has produced many scientific publications and there are more to come.
Brazilian scientists have released genetically modified male mosquitoes that pass a lethal gene to their offspring, killing them before reaching adulthood. The tests have been authorized by Juazeiro (Brazilian community) inhabitants and have been approved by the Brazilian National Biosafety Technical Committee.
